The DuckDuckGo browser’s uniquely comprehensive privacy protections are used by tens of millions of people to protect their everyday online activities on Mac, Windows, iOS, and Android, from searching to browsing, emailing, and more. We also offer Privacy Pro, a three-in-one subscription service that includes a VPN, Personal Information Removal, and Identity Theft Restoration.
We’re looking for a Director, Marketing and Brand Design to help shape our all-in-one privacy solution and join our mission to show the world that protecting your privacy online can be simple.
The Opportunity
In this role, you'll be responsible for coordinating the alignment and evolution of our brand and marketing efforts across various channels, platforms, and product areas. You will take the lead in developing brand and marketing design strategies and roadmaps, while overseeing the seamless integration of our brand into the overall product experience. This pivotal role requires leveraging objective, data-driven, and user-centric methodologies to drive impactful decision-making.
You will approach our brand, marketing, and product initiatives holistically, ensuring consistency in our output and driving efficiency in our workflow. You will lead by example, taking a hands-on approach and working closely with team members across all levels to identify new, high-impact opportunities, drive alignment on priorities, define and scope the work, then guide a team of cross-functional stakeholders and contributors through the its execution.
You will coach and mentor talented and high-performing team members, contributing to their functional expertise and career growth while leveraging your knowledge of their key strengths to delegate resources across all brand and marketing initiatives.
What You Will Bring to DuckDuckGo
- 10+ years of experience in brand and marketing design or related fields
- 4+ years in relevant leadership-level design positions (e.g., Director, Principal) at significant global consumer brands
- Ability to translate overarching company goals into actionable brand and marketing design strategies and roadmaps, fostering alignment and collaborating across diverse teams and key stakeholders.
- A proven track record of developing, scaling, and evolving brand and marketing design systems.
- Skills to manage ambiguity and wrangle vague problems, propose innovative solutions, and execute them with a strong focus on success metrics.
- Proficiency in managing high-impact and complex projects, from proposal through execution and release, while working transparently and collaborating with a cross-functional set of stakeholders and contributors.
- Proficiency in research and experimentation, leveraging qualitative and quantitative data to drive decisions forward.
- A hands-on leadership style — you're effective in executing the most complex design work as an individual contributor, leading by demonstrating solutions in design tools like Figma or crafting recommendations for our design system.
- Exceptional creativity and attention to detail with a strong aesthetic sensibility and intuition.
- Ability and willingness to regularly evaluate, optimize, and evolve workflows and processes across personal, team, and organizational levels to correct inefficiencies and improve throughput.
- Experience in coaching, mentoring, and/or managing teams or individuals.

Compensation
Annual compensation: $242,000 USD and stock options. Compensation is the same within a professional level, regardless of geographic location or functional area, and the compensation for each professional level is transparent across the organization.
