Automattic, the tech powerhouse behind WordPress.com, Jetpack, Tumblr, and WooCommerce, is seeking a strategic Events Producer with a wealth of experience in live event production to join our Global Events team.
Reporting to the Head of Global Events, this person will be an individual contributor as well as collaborate with the Events team and Business Units to maximize impact as follows:
- Produce in-person sponsorship activations that amplify product messaging for Automattic – with a focus on Woo, Jetpack, and WordPress.com.
- Inspire customers by highlighting what is possible with our products through event experiences.
- Drive global growth and product awareness through our presence at WordCamps.
- Optimize events as a channel to acquire new and incremental customers and as a source for non-plan revenue.
Responsibilities:
- Contribute to developing an overall approach for our presence at key WordCamp sponsorships in collaboration with Business Units that drive measurable results and outcomes in support of overall objectives.
- Manage all aspects of event logistics with operational excellence including: trade show booth ideation and build, source, negotiate with, and manage outside vendors and contracts, produce and distribute event gifts/materials, speaker management, forecast/ manage/reconcile event budgets, and deliver post-event recaps.
- Coordinate attendee and/or community logistics and communications pre, during, and post-event; determine opportunities for on-going communication to continue engagement.
- Execute initiatives by working with stakeholders on program management, content development, speaker and staffing outreach and logistics, produce a run-of-show, and lead tech rehearsals.
- Support the team with events throughout the year across all of our products and internal teams. This could include staffing the event on show days, or leading a piece of the production during the lead-up through execution and wrap-up.
Requirements:
- Multi-Tasking & Attention to Detail – Establish and maintain open communication flow between key partners, and shepherd projects through to completion within deadlines. Detail oriented with the ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple responsibilities within a fast-paced environment. Willingness to tackle anything from small administrative tasks to high-profile requests.
- Decision-Making – Shows complexity in thought when considering resource tradeoffs in the pursuit of impact. Can procure supporting data to make informed decisions.
- Communication – Ability to represent Automattic with professionalism, integrity, and a strong customer service attitude. Ability to express complicated concepts in easy-to-understand methods, with excellent written and verbal communication styles. Listens to and considers alternative perspectives to identify the most efficient path forward.
- Project Management – Implement efficient and impactful systems for accountability and drive initiatives forward to completion with proactive communication of timelines – oftentimes on multiple projects with competing deadlines and priorities. Measure estimated vs. actualized impact.
- Collaboration – Collaborates closely with Business Unit leads, content, creative, design, and support team members to amplify our collective efforts to craft a seamless user experience.
- International travel is required as part of this role. Estimated travel time is 15-20% or ~8-10 weeks annually.
Salary range: $80,000-$125,000 USD - Please note that salary ranges are global, regardless of location, where we pay in local currency.
