This role is responsible for building and maintaining secure, HIPAA-compliant infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform, enabling delivery of mobile health programs, notifications and labs ingestion services. While the primary focus is infrastructure and operations, we see strong value in an engineer who can also lend support to backend service development when bandwidth allows.

-
Implement and maintain infrastructure-as-code using Terraform.
-
Set up and monitor CI/CD pipelines (via GitHub Actions or equivalent).
-
Establish observability: uptime/latency monitoring, Sentry integration, alerting and logging pipelines.
-
Ensure role-based access control (RBAC), encryption and audit logging across environments.
-
Support backup/disaster recovery processes for Cloud SQL.
-
Collaborate in an agile development process, contributing to sprint planning and backlog refinement.
-
When available, assist backend engineers with development tasks (e.g. REST APIs, notification services, labs ingestion pipeline).
Requirements
-
Min of 8 years DevOps project experience.
-
Proven experience with Google Cloud Platform (e.g. Cloud Run, Functions, SQL, IAM, Cloud Tasks).
-
Strong knowledge of Terraform (or similar infra-as-code tools).
-
Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment strategies.
-
Familiarity with observability/monitoring tools (e.g. GCP Monitoring, Sentry, Posthog, etc.).
-
Solid understanding of security and compliance best practices (HIPAA preferred).
-
Strong communicator with collaborative mindset; comfortable working cross-functionally with design, backend and product.
Nice to Have
-
Background supporting healthcare or compliance-sensitive systems.
-
Experience contributing to backend development in Node.js, TypeScript or Python.
-
Familiarity with OCR/ML services (e.g. Google Vision API).
-
Prior exposure to high-availability scheduling/notification systems.
