Position Title: Social Media Coordinator

Position Type: Part time, seasonal (February through October), remote

 

The DGPT is an organization dedicated to the promotion and growth of professional disc golf through the administration of our Tour, a series of elite disc golf tournaments across North America and Europe. We focus on teamwork, innovation, and collaboration to achieve our goals and look forward to hiring a social media expert that shares our passion for the sport of disc golf to help grow our organization and the game. 

 

Responsible to: Social Media Manager, Marketing Director 

 

Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Create channel-specific social media content as directed by the Social Media Manager.

  • Manage social media communities by engaging with users in comments and responding to direct messages.

  • Assist the Social Media Manager in planning daily and weekly content.

  • Watch assigned Disc Golf Network live events and post-produced videos to create additional social media content.

  • Own the management and reporting of assigned social media platforms.

  • Research content opportunities and ideas for discussion during weekly social media meetings.

  • Attend assigned DGPT events to create planned content at events.

  • Work on other social media and marketing projects as assigned.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Technology

    • A general competence and understanding of social media platforms as they relate to disc golf (key platforms include: Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, TikTok, YouTube, Reddit)

    • Experience creating content with Adobe products, specifically:

      • Adobe Premiere Pro (videos)

      • Adobe Photoshop (photos)

      • Adobe Illustrator (graphics)

  • General

    • A general competence and understanding of social media platforms as they relate to disc golf (key platforms include: Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, TikTok, YouTube, Reddit)

    • An understanding of public relation risks on social media and how to mitigate exposure with communication via social media. 

    • The ability to write captions in the voice of the Disc Golf Pro Tour brand in a way that connects with fans and followers. 

    • A general understanding of the game of disc golf and a knowledge of the growth of the professional side of the game. 

    • The ability to work well under pressure and tight time constraints. 

    • A positive attitude and the ability to communicate effectively with team members and partners through text and emails.

    • A high degree of professionalism in working with clients, coworkers, players, volunteers, event teams, and service providers.

    • Aptitude and desire to learn new skills.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associates degree (or some college experience) in marketing, media, communications or a similar degree.  

  • Experience with social media scheduling and reporting software. 

  • Previous marketing or media experience. 

  • Experience creating content for disc golf or previous experience working for a disc golf company.

Compensation

  • A part-time, seasonal position

  • Pay Scale: $25 - $30 / hr
