Responsibilities

You’ll take direct responsibility for our end-to-end user experience for both mentees and mentors, working closely with partners in Product Management, Engineering, Mentorship Success. You’ll help drive the product lifecycle from problem definition and prioritization, to solution design and validation, to delivery and evaluation. You will be the voice of the end user in business and product decisions, having built a deep understanding of our users’ needs, thought patterns, and behaviors through empathy-driven research and concept testing.

More responsibilities in detail:

  • Drive the definition of our end-to-end user experience by iterating on our journey maps and service blueprints.

  • Define the problems we need to solve, and design the solutions we will build to solve them, in partnership with Product Management and other teams.

  • Validate UX concepts and designs through evaluative user research to ensure that our solutions will address the problems we want to solve for our users.

  • Conduct generative research to develop a deep understanding of our users.

  • Create clear designs and requirements to enable high-velocity delivery for our engineering team, answering questions promptly and supporting the QA process.

  • Present designs, research, and insights to cross-functional teams and senior company leadership.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience as an in-house product/UX designer at high-growth companies and/or startups.

  • Strong sense of urgency. You push yourself and your teammates to ship, measure, and learn as quickly as possible.

  • Proven experience in all phases of the design process including user research, copywriting, wire-framing, prototyping, visual design, interaction design, and usability testing. You may not be an expert in every area, but you are comfortable and proficient at wearing each of these hats when needed.

  • An intuitive eye for customer needs beyond the obvious, balanced with an instinct to question assumptions and biases, and bring user insights into every decision.

  • Relationship-driven collaboration based on trust, candor, and generosity.

  • Ability to drive complex projects with multiple stakeholders and contributors.

  • Ability to collect, interpret, and apply both qualitative and quantitative insights.

  • A well-rounded portfolio of product design work, demonstrating a strong understanding of business objectives, user needs, and design techniques and best practices.

  • Ability to effectively communicate and persuade around design concepts

  • Passion for design; not satisfied with the status quo and always thinking of ways to improve

  • Demonstrated interest in mentorship, with experience as both a mentor and mentee (formal or informal).
