C# Developer, for Award-Winning Music Software

Worldwide

REMOTE position: We are known for building award-winning music software. Our flagship products are called Mixed In Key and Captain Plugins: https://mixedinkey.com and https://mixedinkey.com/captain-plugins/

We're currently looking for a C# developer to join our core team and work on our flagship products. Our work is unique - we've been around for 16 years and have created a ton of award-winning music software. Our audience is incredible - it's the world's top musicians and DJs.

Here are a few things to know about the company:

1. Everyone works remotely

Our team lives in the United States, United Kingdom, Netherlands, Brazil, Mexico, Bulgaria, Latvia, Lithuania, Dubai and more. You can work remotely from anywhere in the world as long as you're available part of the day (EST time) for collaboration.

2. Our team is awesome

  • The company was founded by a C# developer, and we continue using that language 16 years after we started
  • We have incredible retention - The first Mac developer and the first Windows developer joined Mixed In Key 16 years ago. They are still on the team now.
  • Our entire team is really good - you'll make friends with people who can mentor you, and help you learn new things in C#
  • Our products consistently win awards and we've been granted over 10 patents for our innovations
  • Everyone is super polite and easy to get along with . We're a small indie company, so we never had growing pains that happen from becoming a large business.
  • We never outsourced our software development to other companies, so our code was always top-quality. It's well-maintained.
  • We know our codebase inside-out, so we can always help you if you get stuck on something
  • We work in small teams (1-3 developers, 1 QA, 1 designer, 1 project manager, and 100+ beta testers on each task)
  • You will have a healthy live-work balance. We don't have crunch time and we keep stress away from the job. Our team is kind and talented, and loves to collaborate with each other
  • We prioritize quality and innovation, not profit. Our music software is the end result of having a great team. The team is always more important than the product.

3. Our motto is: we never copy another company's work. If someone has built a similar idea already, we're never going to build the same idea ourselves. All our work is 100% innovative and original because that's the rule we made 16 years ago. We have a track record to prove it. It makes the job super interesting because we're always "first" to do something and it makes our work unique.

4. You'll learn a lot from this job

Our software is more complex than most products. You'll learn a lot from working on it. We have a great team dynamic and we always learn from each other. Everyone on the team has enough experience to be called a "Senior" developer.

5. We make tools for the world's biggest musicians

Our testimonial list is awesome: https://mixedinkey.com/artist-reviews-of-mixed-in-key/

These are not paid endorsements, they are just quotes from fans of the product.

All our software is written in C# on Windows and Objective-C on Mac. If you join our C# team, you'll work directly on building this software and future generations of it.

6. What are we looking for?

1) It's required that you have a solid knowledge of C# and that you enjoy using it. It's our language of choice. We hire people who feel the same way about it.

2) No music knowledge is required - if you've never composed music before, that's OK with us. We can teach you what you'll need to know about making music.

3) You must have at least some experience in building complex software. For developers who've only built basic apps, this job is going to be way too hard. On average, our team members have 10+ years of programming experience, and several have 20-30+ years each. We're a group of experienced people.

4) It helps if you take a lot of initiative. The job is "remote work only", so you need to be good at managing your own time and being productive every day at working remotely.

5) Desire to work from home. You can work 4 days a week (Tuesday-Friday, or Monday-Thursday), or 5 days a week depending on your preference. We don't hire for less than 32 hours per week

7. Salary:

We pay Western European  / US rates, even for people who live outside the US.

If this sounds interesting and you want to work in C# on creative software, please get in touch with us. We have a spot open because we're growing. Thanks!
